Maumelle Soccer Club (MSC) is pleased to announce Alex Burgess as Director of Coaching.

MAUMELLE, AR – APRIL 14, 2017 - Maumelle Soccer Club (MSC) is pleased to announce Alex Burgess as Director of Coaching. Burgess, a Football Association level 2 coach with ten plus years of coaching experience, has lived in Maumelle since 2012.

Burgess is a native of Manchester, United Kingdom. He first entered the United States as a soccer coach for Challenger Youth Sports having coached at a number of professional academies in his home country. In his previous role as director of coaching for an Arkansas club, five teams won state championships. He is currently the primary coach for Cabot Predators U11 Boys and U14 Girls.

Joshua Clausen, MSC President said, “Maumelle has always had a strong soccer club and the kids who play with us are at a variety of levels. We’ve always said the club is about the kids and we’re excited to bring on Alex, someone who shares the same passion as the board, to teach and grow local talent.”

Clausen added, “Our vision for the club is to provide a quality, reasonably priced soccer program for our community, open to any level player and deliver training for coaches and players alike to be able to develop their potential. Adding a director of coaching and expanding our classic level teams is a sign of our club’s strength and the community’s interest in the sport.”

MSC currently has three classic level teams – boys ’04, girls ’03 and ’05. Coaches for those teams will remain in place. Burgess will lead development of new classic teams, including identifying additional certified coaches, for boys and girls aged 10 to 16.

“Maumelle is a close community and MSC is a strong recreational club,” Burgess said. “I believe in the club’s vision and dedication to the kids and their philosophy that soccer is not the place for a corporate atmosphere and high fees. I want to help build the club in Maumelle and grow its reputation across the state with expanded ages of classic level play. I would be proud to put my name on that.”
